Abstract The World Peace Council is an international organization, representing over 100 countries, currently with headquarters in Greece. The organization was founded in 1948 and Frederic Joliot-Curie was its first president. It is described as an "anti-imperialist, democratic, independent and non-aligned international movement of mass action. It is an integral part of the world peace movement and acts in cooperation with other international and national movements" on its web site (2011).
