Richard Tapper Cadbury Papers

Overview

Richard Tapper Cadbury (1853-1929) was a Quaker businessman, teacher, writer, and art connoisseur. His mother's brother, Earl Shinn, Jr., (1838-1886) was a well-known art critic. The collection contains correspondence and memorabilia of the Cadbury, Comfort, Haines, and Shinn families. The letters give a detailed picture of life in Philadelphia Quaker families of the mid 19th century, and of the hardships of those who participated in the California gold rush.

Stephen G. Cary papers

Overview Stephen G. Cary graduated from Germantown Friends School in 1933 and from Haverford College in 1937. He earned a master's degree in international administration from Columbia University in 1943. Between 1946 and 1969, Cary worked for the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), and was the chairman of the AFSC from 1979 to 1991. Joseph Cauffiel scrapbook

The Joseph Cauffiel scrapbook documents Haverford College football games during the 1953 and 1954 seasons. The scrapbook contains gameday booklets, local newspaper clippings, and issues of "Haverford News" to relay information concerning the members of the 1953 and 1954 football squads and record the outcomes of the football games.

A personal book of autographs, owned by Charles “Chad” Lippincott. Autographs and brief poems/quotes are scribed by teachers and classmates from Haverford College in Haverford, Pennsylvania, as well as the Normal School in Trenton, New Jersey. Additionally, there is a daguerrotype of Charles Lippincott taken in 1861.
