Overview Turn Toward Peace was founded in 1961 as a cooperative national effort of about 60 peace and liberal internationalist organizations; Norman Thomas was Chairman of TTP, and Robert Gilmore was the Executive Director. There eventually were offices in several large cities and 38 national organizations were affiliated with the organization.
