Scope and Content note This collection is comprised of the single volume signature album of Julia Cope Collins. According to the inscription on the front cover, this "Floral Album" was given to her by her mother in August of 1879. The album includes signatures, which are occasionally accompanied with a short note, quote, or sketch by the signer.
Overview This collection spans approximately 200 years, from the late 1700s to the late 1900s, and five generations of the Morris-Shinn-Maier family, which are traced through matrilineal and patrilineal lines. They were prominent Quaker businessmen and lawyers in the Philadelphia area, and a large portion of the collection is dedicated to their legal and business material, as well as a great deal of very detailed financial material.
