This collection is composed of typed transcript of excerpts from Ella Bowles Newlin's travel journal from her trip with her husband from Iowa to England, Norway, and Germany. The transcript was prepared by Newlin's granddaughter, Vesta Newlin Hansen. Newlin's trip begins by taking a train from her home in Iowa to Philadelphia, where she and her husband attended the Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, after which the two traveled to New York, where they spent two weeks visiting friends. This collection is comprised of materials collected by Herbert Standing. Included is a photocopy of an inventory of material from the "Kansas Conservative Yearly Meeting," a typed copy of a manuscript written by Standing, entitled "A Biographical Sketch of Thomas Chester Battey," and a typed extract of material written by Ella Newlin in 1935, regarding the "separation of 1877" in Iowa.
