De Armand Family Album

This collection consists of a family album of cartes de visite depicting prominent Friends and members of various Quaker families. The album seemed to belong to William Webster, whose family immigrated to Woodbridge, New Jersey circa 1685 and who helped in the development of Plainfield, New Jersey and the Plainfield Meeting House in the late 1700s.

Abstract This collection includes letters of Elizabeth Fry, both original and photocopies. The letters cover a wide range of subjects, from personal news to prison reform. Her correspondence is particularly concerned with education and religious instruction of prisoners, and the treatment of women and children prisoners. This collection includes personal correspondence between Mary B. Parsons and members of the Braithwaite family, primarily Anna and Isaac Braithwaite. Letters concern family matters and, occasionally, meeting activities at Flushing and Kendal and news of Joseph Gurney and Elizabeth Fry. Other correspondents include J. Bevan Braithwaite and Martha G. Braithwaite.
