Overview

The Ernest Bailey scrapbooks consist of nine volumes containing clippings and pictures related to Haverford College, taken from a variety of national and local newspapers. A majority of clippings and pictures pertain to Haverford athletics, although there are many others that address academic matters; the affairs of alumni, faculty, and students; and noteworthy happenings in the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The scrapbook compiles materials spanning the years 1920-1933.

Haverford College Athletics scrapbooks

Overview

There are three scrapbooks in the collection. The first (1896) deals primarily with the Haverford cricket team. The second (1905-1906) focuses on the Haverford football team, with additional clippings for Haverford cricket, relays, gymnastics, debate, and soccer, as well as clippings about general college happenings. The third (1906-1907) also focuses on Haverford football, including articles on football games, recruits, alumni activity, and pictures of members of the team.

Haverford College Emergency Unit scrapbook, 1917

Overview

The Haverford College Emergency Unit scrapbook was organized by the creators into six different sections: Record of Organization Committee, Record of the Committee of Ten, Organization Documents, Record of the Central Board, Record of the Court of Discipline, and Miscellaneous Records. All dated documents in the collection correspond to the year in which the Emergency Unit was formed, 1917.

Overview

Scrapbook holds about 50 pages of clippings. The majority appear to be from college and area newspapers. Topics include commencement exercises and speeches, junior class exercises, the Loganian Society, lectures given on campus (topics in literature and geology, primarily), Haverford College in general, and the Haverford Alumni Association.
