Biographical / Historical
Israel Burshatin is Professor Emeritus of Spanish and Comparative Literature at Haverford College.
Juan Goytisolo was a Spanish poet, essayist, and novelist. He was born in Barcelona in 1931 and published his first novel, The Young Assassins, in 1954. Other notable works by Goytisolo include Marks of Identity (1966), Count Julian (1970), and Juan the Landless (1975). He was awarded the Miguel de Cervantes Prize in 2014. Goytisolo lived in Marrakech, Morocco, from 1997 until his death in 2017.
