Biographical Note

T. Vail Palmer, Jr. is an author and a minister at the Freedom Friends Church in Salem, Oregon. He graduated from the Quaker George School of Newtown, Pennsylvania, before receiving his bachelor's from the University of Pennsylvania and his Ph.D. from the divinity school at the University of Chicago in 1965. He was a postdoctoral T. Wistar Brown fellow at Haverford College from 1976 to 1977. Palmer was arrested and imprisoned for being a non-registrant conscientious objector. He participated in the 1963 March on Washington, and was present at Martin Luther King Jr.'s I Have a Dream speech. He married Izzy Covalt; they had eight children and currently reside in Albany, Oregon.
