This collection includes a variety of diaries of the Lloyd family, including three anonymous diaries, one diary written by Mary Ann Lloyd, one by Sarah Lloyd, and one by Susan Lloyd. Diary entries are generally related to religion, Quaker meetings, and social calls. Some volumes includes extracts or poetry.
Sarah Smith Lloyd (1770-1840) was born in Philadelphia, PA in May of 1770, the daughter of William Smith and Elizabeth Garrigues. She married Thomas Lloyd (1765-1840) circa 1797/1798, and the couple had six children: Mary Ann (ca. 1797-1873), Elizabeth (1799-1879), Susanna (1802-1857), Isaac Smith (1803-1879), Thomas (1805-1876), Sarah (1807-1895), and William (1809-1860). Sarah Smith Lloyd died shortly after her husband, in May of 1840.
Susan H. Lloyd (1802-1857) was a Quaker and member of Philadelphia Monthly Meeting for the Western District. She was born circa 1802, and died in 1857 "in the 56th year of her age," according to an obituary notice in Friends Review, v. 10, p. 569, 1857.
Mary Ann Lloyd (ca. 1797-1873) was born in Philadelphia, Pa., circa 1797, the daughter of Sarah and Thomas Lloyd. She died circa 1872 in Philadelphia.
