Biographical note

Samuel Newitt Jr. (1764-1847) was born April 27, 1764 in Northhamptonshire, England, the son of Samuel and Mary Newitt. He immigrated to Newport County, Rhode Island at an unknown date, where he established a farm near Tiverton. On February 21, 1805, Newitt married Esther Mosher in Westport Massachusetts. On February 12, 1847, Newitt died and was buried on his farm.

Acquisition

The Samuel Newitt journal were donated to Special Collections, Haverford College, in 2015 by Jonathan Flaccus.
