Scope and Contents
About 100 photographs of people, buildings, and scenery taken in early 20th century China. Many of the people were involved with the Hunan Bible Institute or were photographed there, and many of the images are from the Hunan area.

Biographical Note
Frank Arthur Keller was born May 26, 1862, in Fort Plain, New York. After graduating from Yale University and the Albany Medical School, he joined the China Inland Mission (CIM; now the OMF International or the Oversees Missionary Fellowship), an interdenominational Protestant Missionary Society. Keller arrived in China in October 1898, and settled in Changsha, Hunan, the provincial capital, in 1901. He married Elizabeth Tilley in 1902. He was one of the founders of the Hunan Bible Institute, which opened in 1916, and remained deeply involved with it throughout his life. Keller retired in 1937, and left China in 1940. He died July 24, 1945, in Los Angeles, California.

Around 100 images of China in the early 20th century, mostly of Hunan province. They were taken by Frank A. Keller, a medical missionary in China from 1898 to 1937.

Acquisition
The Frank A. Keller collection was donated to Special Collections, Haverford College in April, 2004 by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Gray.
