Biographical note

Mary Rhoads Haines (1818-1905) was born in 1818 in Springfield, PA. She married a Philadelphia doctor, William Ellis Haines, in 1841. The couple had one child, Hannah, in 1845. William Haines ided a year later. Mary Rhoads Haines taught in Quaker schools in Philadelphia and Westtown after the death of her husband.

Acquisition

The Mary R. Haines signature album was donated to Special Collections, Haverford College, in 1951 by Henry S. Williams.
