This collection is comprised of the single volume manuscript written by Faith Brown Bertsche. The manuscript details the history of Quakers in Georgia, particularly Augusta Meeting in Augusta, Georgia. It includes a description of Quakers movement south to Georgia from North Carolina, John Woolman's abolition efforts, and the history surrounding the process of creating a recognized Friends Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia.

Biographical Note
Faith Kingsley Brown Bertsche (1917-2003) was born January 14, 1917, in Brooklyn, New York, the daughter of Henry C. Brown and Clara Kingsley. She received her bachelor's from Augusta College in 1988. She was a member of the Author Society and was the founder, publisher, and author of the Augusta Spectator. She wrote four books: History of the Augusta Monthly Meeting, History of Quakers in Augusta, A Travel Sampler, and the Biography of Henry Collins Brown. Bertsche was active in her community; she organized a committee for a program called Open Door Kindergarten, and helped extend the reach of her local food bank. Bertsche married Edwin C. Bertsche and the couple had three children: Virginia, Susan, and David. She was a delegate to the 1964 Republican National Convention. Bertsche lived with her family in Augusta, Georgia, and in Boothbay Harbor, Maine, in her later life. Bertsche died on April 26, 2003.
