Biographical / Historical

Born in New England in 1876, Marion Edwards Park received her A.B., M.A. and PhD from Bryn Mawr College. She became president of Bryn Mawr College in 1922, following a period of teaching and five years in academic administration at Bryn Mawr, Simmons and Radcliffe colleges. She served as president of Bryn Mawr College until 1942. During her administration the college's curriculum was broadened in subjects and teaching methods, the Graduate School was strengthened and the number of students and faculty increased, despite that she served during the Depression and the outbreak of World War II. she died in 1960.

Materials were removed from the president's office in Taylor Hall following the retirement of Marion Edwards Park and the establishment of a college archives at Bryn Mawr College.
