Overview The collection contains correspondence of the family of C. Canby Balderston, a prominent Quaker and businessman. He served with the Friends Relief Service and the Relief Commission for Belgium during WWI and both of his sons, Frederick Emery Balderston and Robert W. Balderston, were COs in WWII, working as ambulance drivers. Frederick E. Balderston (1923-2007) married Judith Braude (1926-1993) in 1949. Overview Joseph Bancroft (1803-1874) was Hicksite Quaker and cloth manufacturer from Wilmington, Delaware, who worked for the reunification of the Society of Friends in the 1860's and 1870's. He wrote a number of religious tracts and published a book, A Persuasive To Unity, which he published in 1874. At his death, Bancroft established a trust fund to secure the free circulation of this book among Quakers. Bernard Barton Correspondence

Overview The collection contains primarily the corrrespondence of Bernard Barton, English Quaker poet and bank clerk. Most of the letters are to William S. Fitch, a chemist and druggist, and other correspondents include R. Ackerman and Edward Moxon. Many of the letters concern Barton's poetry. Also included are few poems and other papers. All items in the collection were written by Bernard Barton; most were written from the location of Woodbridge (Suffolk, England).

Overview The collection contain papers of the Bassett and Little families who resided in Swarthmore, Pa., in the first half of the twentieth century. In the 1980s, May Virginia Bassett Little (1913-1994) created a series of family scrapbooks accompanied by short memoirs and excerpts from her diaries. Overview Joel Bean (1835-1914) and his wife, Hannah Elliott Bean (1830-1909), were prominent Quaker ministers in Iowa Yearly Meeting in the mid-nineteenth century when Quaker settlements were expanding in Iowa. Joel Bean was born in Alton, New Hampshire, in 1825, the son of John and Elizabeth Hill Bean, and educated at Friends Boarding School in Providence, Rhode Island. Overview The Bettle family were prominent 19th century Quaker merchants in Philadelphia. Samuel Bettle, Sr., was Clerk of Philadelphia Yearly Meeting at the time of the Separation in 1827.
