This is a collection of papers relating to the troubles over the New Light faction in Lynn Monthly Meeting, Massachusetts. Included are copies of letters and articles, and personal written accounts of the events at Lynn Monthly Meeting from 1822-1826 that led to the trial of New Lights, including Jonathon Buffum, John Alley, Jr., and Mary Newhall. Overview
The collection consists of the correspondence of Henry T. Osborne (1868-1896), a civil engineer and member of Weare Monthly Meeting, New Hampshire. The letters were sent to family and friends at home, most from Amesbury, Massachusetts, where he worked as a surveyor with John P. Titcomb (1891-1932). This collection includes letters to Mary G. Otis written by her mother and father, Susanna I. and James H. Otis, and her aunt, Sarah H. Otis. These relate primarily to family and local news.
