The first Swarthmore College yearbook, Halcyon was published in 1883. It has appeared annually nearly every year since. This small collection contains an advertising accounts book, receipt and expenditures journal, and banking records, 1924-1925.

Everett Lee Hunt Papers

Everett Lee Hunt served on the faculty and administration of Swarthmore College from 1925 to 1956. The collection contains speeches and articles by Hunt (and some others) on topics such as Swarthmore College life, Frank Aydelotte, and College traditions, ranging 1935-1973.

Leandre Jackson photographs of Black student life at Swarthmore College

Overview

Leandre Jackson, a professional photographer, graduated from Swarthmore College in 1975 and served as Director of Swarthmore's Black Cultural Center 1975-1977 (full time from 1975-1976 and part time from 1976-1977. This collection consist of photographs taken by Leandre Jackson and displayed in a February 2015 exhibition at the Swarthmore College Library entitled "Proof of Black Life."

Ralph Keyes collection on Robert "Tiny" Maxwell

Overview Robert "Tiny" Maxwell (1884-1922) was an influential college and professional football player who attended Swarthmore College from 1904-1906. In 1984, Ralph Keyes wrote an article about Maxwell for Sports Illustrated. Gertrude Gilmore Lafore letters received

Overview

Gertrude Gilmore Lafore (1905-1993) was an alumna of Swarthmore College and a nursery school teacher based in Moylan, Pa. The bulk of the Gertrude Gilmore Lafore letters received date from 1928 to 1933 and are personal in nature, although there are also letters relating to her education, employment, and finances. There are a few letters from later years, and a couple photographs.

Eugene M. Lang papers

Overview Eugene M. Lang (1919-2017) was an American businessman and philanthropist, known for founding an innovative intellectual property firm and for his support of higher education. James A. Michener (1907-1997, Swarthmore College class of 1929) was a bestselling American author of more than four dozen books. His first, Tales of the South Pacific and published when he was 40, won the Pulitzer Prize. The bulk of this collection is clippings about James A. Michener and foreign stamps collected by him.
