Biographical / Historical
The League of Women Voters was established in 1920 as a nonpartison organization to promote political responsibility through informed and active participation in government. The Swarthmore Branch was founded in 1948; before 1944, the League had a state structure with programming done on the county level. Early League meetings in Swarthmore were held under the auspices of the Swarthmore Woman’s Club. in 2006 merged with the League of Women Voters, Central Delaware County.

Processing Information
Basic organization was retained as received in 2003. Sorted, arranged in chronological order, and rehoused in one box. Photographs were removed and stored with PA 64. The deposit of 2006 added as a second box, records from ca. 1993-2006, but without updating the finding aid. In 2017, the collection was reviewed for duplicates and better described. Box 1 with earliest records missing.
