Biographical / Historical

The Walking Treaty between Thomas Penn and the Delaware Indians accorded to Pennsylvania as much land as a man could walk in one and a half days. In 1737 Thomas Penn commissioned trained men to walk a cleared path and thereby gain strategically important land belonging to the Delaware tribe.
