Darling Conrow of New Jersey was paralyzed in a fall. In his last years, he came to study and admire the writings and teachings of Quaker minister, John Hunt, especially Hunt's views on temperance. In 1788, after Conrow's death, his wife and children became members of Evesham Monthly Meeting. Conrow's son later married Hunt's daughter, Esther.
