Biographical / Historical
Hostages for Peace, founded in 1962, was later renamed the Citizen Exchange Corps. It promoted international understanding through private citizen visits to the Soviet Union. After 1980, the year the Soviet-Afghanistan hostilities began, the Corps became dormant until 1985 when it was renamed the Citizen Exchange Council.
