Biographical / Historical

Nottingham Monthly Meeting indulged a meeting for worship at Eastland in 1796 as part of Little Britain Preparative Meeting. Eastland Meeting petitioned the Western Quarterly Meeting for its own preparative meeting in 1802, and the request was granted in 1803. In 1804, members of Eastland Preparative Meeting joined with those at Little Britain to form Little Britain Monthly Meeting. Most of the Friends at Eastland were Hicksites after 1828, but some Orthodox members from Little Britain Monthly were joined as an Orthodox preparative meeting. Today the meeting at Eastland is also known as Little Britain-Eastland.
