Biographical / Historical

Friends began to meet in York-town in Pennsylvania in 1764. In 1767 they requested that a preparative meeting be formed under the care of Warrington Monthly Meeting. York Monthly Meeting was established in 1786. During the Separation of 1828, York Monthly Meeting affiliated with the Hicksite branch of Friends. Due to western migration, the meeting was laid down in 1858. In 1932, the meeting was reorganized as an independent monthly meeting. In 1951, York Monthly Meeting became a monthly meeting under Warrington Quarterly Meeting. The Meeting remains active.
