Biographical / Historical

Scipio Monthly Meeting was founded in 1808 under Easton Quarterly Meeting. In 1828 it divided into Orthodox and Hicksite branches. In 1847 the Orthodox branch underwent a further schism as the Wilburites separated. Otisite Friends separated from the Orthodox branch in 1859, and founded New York Yearly Meeting of Friends at Poplar Ridge. When the meeting was laid down in 1896, its constitutent meetings joined Canada Yearly Meeting, and then were later united to New York Yearly Meeting.
