Scope and Contents

Records of the united monthly meeting and its predecessors, the Hicksite and Orthodox monthly meetings, since 1898. Included are: Minutes of the united meeting since 1951; minutes of the Hicksite meeting, 1901-1951 and minutes of the Orthodox meeting, 1904-1951; marriage and membership records; minutes of the Orthodox women's meeting, 1904-1915; minutes of Worship and Ministry and its predecessors; First Day School meeting minutes; financial, property, and committee records. Digital records include a mix of digitized and born-digital meeting for business minutes (2000-2022).

Biographical / Historical

Lansdowne Monthly Meeting (Hicksite) was established in 1901 by Concord Quarterly Meeting out of Darby Monthly Meeting. Lansdowne Monthly Meeting (Orthodox) was established in 1904 by Concord Quarterly Meeting out of Chester Monthly Meeting (Orthodox). In 1951, the Hicksite and Orthodox monthly meetings merged to form a united monthly meeting. In 1955, Lansdowne Monthly Meeting became part of the newly-formed Chester Quarterly Meeting. Lansdowne Monthly Meeting is currently an active monthly meeting.
