Biographical / Historical

Makefield Preparative Meeting was established before 1756. At the time of the Hicksite Separation of 1827, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. The Orthodox branch merged with the Orthodox branch of Newtown Preparative Meeting (Bucks County) to form Makefield and Newtown Preparative Meeting. This meeting was discontinued later in 1827, and its members were attached to Falls Preparative Meeting (Orthodox). Makefield Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued in 1926.
