Overview Elias Hicks (1748-1830) was an eminent Quaker minister from Jericho, Long Island, N.Y. In the 1820s, a religious controversy within the Society of Friends which focused on Hicks' ministry led to the Hicksite-Orthodox Separation of 1827-1828. Maria Fox family correspondence

Abstract This collection primarily includes letters written by Maria Fox to her parents in Philadelphia while she was a student at Wilmington Boarding School. Also included are two letters from Maria's sister, Sarah Ann. The correspondence gives an account of the daily experiences of a student at Wilmington Boarding School. One letter briefly mentions a talk given at the school by the Quaker minister, Emmor Kimber.

Abstract This collection contains the papers of Elizabeth French Haines, relating to Kimberton Boarding School. Included are her piecebook and copybook, letters she wrote to her father and brother while at school, a Kimberton catalogue, and letters written by Emmor Kimber to the Haines family. Also included are letters from Elizabeth to her aunt describing her work as a school teacher, letters from Kimberton friends, a family deed, and a daguerretype of Elizabeth Haines later in her life.

Hannah M. (Hannah Moore) Levick Family Papers

Overview Hannah M. Levick was a Hicksite Quaker, the daughter of Richard and Sara Moore of Richmond in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, and a granddaughter of Theophilus and Hannah Foulke. In 1843 she married William M. Levick of Philadelphia, and they became members of Green Street Monthly Meeting. Her husband was employed as a conveyancer in Philadelphia, and Hannah wrote a number of articles for Quaker publications.
