The stated purpose of this non-partison, non-profit organization was "to educate women to take an active role in eliminating war as a means of solving disputes between nations, people and ideologies." Abraham Egnal Papers

Overview Abraham Egnal was a former teacher of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was very active in the Philadelphia area peace movement. He received his B.S. and M.A. degrees in economics from the University of Pennsylvania. Egnal organized many peace rallies and marches. He was the chairman of the West Philadelphia-Main Line Committee of the National Committee for a Sane Nuclear Policy, the Greater Philadelphia Council, and the Philadelphia Mobilization Committee in 1967.

Overview The Fair Lawn community in New Jersey founded the Committee for Peace in Vietnam on March 1, 1967. The organization began building local support for alternative solutions to the conflict in Vietnam. The organization's membership grew to 200+ families in the six years that followed. On October 26, 1973, the group announced its plans to disband.
