J & J Darlington Brothers Papers

Content Description Business records of the historic Delaware County, Pennsylvania, dairy farm and creamery of J and J Darlington, as well as the business records of the Darlington/Darling Post Office, about 1879-1922. The rural branch of Postal Service was established about 1879 and officially closed in 1976. The name was changed to Darling Post Office in 1896 to avoid confusion with a Darlington in Beaver County, Pennsylvania.

In addition to family news, there is a receipt for tuition at Friends Select School, a letter of acknowledgement from Israel Howell to Chester Monthly Meeting, and a short note relating the reaction of the author to the assasination of Abraham Lincoln. Ann P. Jackson Family Papers

Overview Ann P. Jackson (1792-1874) was a Quaker minister of Darby and Birmingham Monthly Meetings in Pennsylvania. She was originally from Darby, Pa. and had two children, Mary and Stephen. Her children married another set of siblings, Philip and Ann Sharples Chester County. In 1831, Ann P. Paschall (later Ann P. Jackson) was recorded as a minister of Darby Monthly Meeting (Hicksite). Abstract Collection of manuscripts of the Lewis and Pratt families of Delaware County in Pennsylvania. Includes bible pages with births, marriages, and deaths, as well as Quaker documents. Of particular interest is a letter from Thomas H. Speakman to his sister, M.M. Jenkinson on an inheritance which also includes a reference to Rowland Johnson, Lucretia Mott, Clement Biddle, and James Martin at the Cherry Street meeting house.

Media Friends' Association minutes

Overview Media Friends Association, a Quaker study and social group, was established in 1894 in Media, Pennsylvania, by members of Providence Preparative Meeting (Hicksite). The goal of the Association was to further discussion and knowledge of the history and testimonies of Friends, and the meetings, which included reports, papers, and readings, were open to all who were interested. The collection contains one volume of minutes, with constitution and by-laws included.
