Peter Andrews journal

Scope and Content This collection is composed of a single, original, handwritten copy of Peter Andrews’ journal kept during his travels in England during 1755-1756. Entries describe his voyage from Philadelphia to Newcastle, including weather, fellow passengers, and Quaker meetings held onboard. Upon Andrews’ arrival in England, entries describe visits to fellow Quakers, Quaker meetings, and discussions of the state of the Society of Friends in England.

William Jackson journal

Scope and Content note This collection is composed of the single, handwritten journal of William Jackson’s trip to England and Ireland in 1802-1803. Early entries detail the preparations required to make the journey, as well as details about the voyage itself, such as descriptions of the weather, illness on board, and the dwindling supplies on the ship. Scope and Content note This collection is composed of the single handwritten journal pages of Robert Lindsey's trip to visit Friends in Iowa. Entries describe the journey, including descriptions of the weather, travel by horse and wagon over the prairies, the dangerous crossing of the frozen Mississippi River, the history of the Quakers in Iowa, Quaker Meetings attended, and Lindsey's various travels throughout Iowa to visit various Iowa Quaker families.

Anne Moore journal

Scope and Content note This collection includes a single photocopy of Anne Moore’s journal. Entries detail her travels as a Quaker minister to Maryland, Pennsylvania, New York, parts of New England, and England. Entries also provide descriptions of Quaker meetings, visits from Friends, and Moore’s reflections on religion and advice for her children.

Included at the end of the journal are testimonies about Moore by her children, which were read at her funeral and at the Baltimore Quarterly meeting.

Elizabeth Hudson Morris diary

Scope and Content note This collection includes the original, loose leaf copy of Elizabeth Hudson Morris’s diary, as well as a photocopy of the original, and a typed transcript. Entries describe Elizabeth’s travel as a Quaker minister throughout the American colonies, as well as Ireland and Scotland, and Quaker meetings. Copied versions of letters from Jane Hoskins are also included in the volume.

William Savery diaries

Scope and Content note This collection is composed of four handwritten volumes of William Savery's diaries. The majority of the first volume concerns the Treaty at Canandaigua, but the remaining volumes are all accounts of religious visits Savery made throughout Europe and Britain. Entries generally describe details of travel between destinations, Quaker meetings attended, Quaker families visited, and descriptions of each location's culture, food, language, style of dress, and form of local government.
