Elizabeth Hudson Morris diary

Scope and Content note This collection includes the original, loose leaf copy of Elizabeth Hudson Morris’s diary, as well as a photocopy of the original, and a typed transcript. Entries describe Elizabeth’s travel as a Quaker minister throughout the American colonies, as well as Ireland and Scotland, and Quaker meetings. Copied versions of letters from Jane Hoskins are also included in the volume.

Levinus King Painter Papers

Overview Levinus King Painter (1889-1983) was a Quaker minister, author, and social activist. Born in Spiceland, Indiana, in 1889, he attended Spiceland Academy, Earlham College, and Hartford Theological Seminary. His pastoral service began in Collins, New York, in 1914, and he later served at Poplar Ridge (N.Y.), Monkton and South Starksboro (Vt.), Clintondale (N.Y.), Putney (Vt.), and back to Collins from 1942-56. Overview The collection contains personal papers, primarily correspondence, of members of the Richardson and Yarnall families, Pennsylvania Quakers who emigrated to America in the 1680s. The families were united by the marriage in 1816 of Nathaniel Richardson and Hannah Yarnall of Byberry. William Savery diaries

Scope and Content note This collection is composed of four handwritten volumes of William Savery's diaries. The majority of the first volume concerns the Treaty at Canandaigua, but the remaining volumes are all accounts of religious visits Savery made throughout Europe and Britain. Entries generally describe details of travel between destinations, Quaker meetings attended, Quaker families visited, and descriptions of each location's culture, food, language, style of dress, and form of local government.
