Scope and Content This collection is composed of a single, original, handwritten copy of Peter Andrews’ journal kept during his travels in England during 1755-1756. Entries describe his voyage from Philadelphia to Newcastle, including weather, fellow passengers, and Quaker meetings held onboard. Upon Andrews’ arrival in England, entries describe visits to fellow Quakers, Quaker meetings, and discussions of the state of the Society of Friends in England.

Samuel Emlen Jr. diaries

Scope and Content note This collection is composed of two handwritten diaries by Samuel Emlen Jr.

The first diary, dated 1794, is called "A Memorandum on a Journey into Maryland" by Emlen himself, and entries record his journey into Maryland, and describes visits with Friends there.

The second diary, dated 1817-1818 includes entries that describe discussions of international politics had with friends, particularly concerning Russia, social calls with friends and family, and Quaker meetings.
