Biographical Note
Joseph A. Meyer (1856–1894) was a Massachusetts Institute of Technology architecture graduate who accompanied John Henry Haynes on the Nippur expedition in order to make archaeological sketches. Haynes and Meyer met in Baghdad in the summer of 1894, at the end of Meyer's MIT sponsored tour to practice his architectural drawing. Meyer died of dysentery less than six months into the excavation.
