This collection is comprised of the single volume commonplace book of Caroline Cope Yarnall Hartshorne. It includes sketches, postcards, pressed flowers, and poems copied by various friend's of Hartshorne's, including: M.A. Longstreth, S. Longstreth, Susan H. Lloyd, Hannah Whitall Smith, Alfred Cope, M. Newlin, Jane Edge, and Anna Hallowell. Poetry focuses on nature, religion and friendship.

Biographical note

Caroline Cope Yarnall Hartshorne (1835-1886) was born in 1835. She married Charles Hartshorne on June 8, 1859 and the couple had three children: Mary Weston (b. 1860), Edward Yarnall (b. 1861), and Francis Cope (b. 1868). She died May 28, 1886.
