Biographical Note

Francis King Carey was born in Baltimore, Maryland, on July 1, 1858, to James Carey (Haverford College class of 1839) and Susan Budd Kimber. He entered Haverford in 1874, and graduated in 1878. Carey earned the Alumni Prize for oration in 1877. Post graduation, he was the vice president of the Alumni Association. He also co-authored two books, "The Law of Husband and Wife" and "Forms and Precedents". He earned his LL.B. from the University of Maryland in 1880. He wrote articles that appeared in "Princeton Review" and "American Law Review". His primary occupation was that of lawyer. He married Anne Galbraith Hall on April 27, 1886. He lived in Baltimore after leaving Haverford.
