Biographical / Historical

Upper Evesham Preparative Meeting was established in 1783 by Salem Quarterly Meeting. In 1827, after the Hicksite Separation in Philadelphia Yearly Meeting, the meeting split into Hicksite and Orthodox branches. In 1850, Upper Evesham Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) changed its name to Medford Preparative Meeting. In 1970, Upper Evesham Preparative Meeting, the former Orthodox meeting, merged with Medford Preparative Meeting, the former Hicksite meeting, to form the Society of Friends of Medford, an organization having the care of all property belonging to Medford Monthly Meeting.
