Scope and Contents

Records include: minutes, 2002-2017; miscellaneous records, 2002; Worship Group records, 1990-2001. Plumstead Monthly Meeting Records also include records kept by the group prior to its establishment as a monthly meeting. Plumstead Worship Group began meeting regularly for worship in 1989 and began holding regular business meetings in 1996 under care of Buckingham Monthly Meeting.

Biographical / Historical

An indulged meeting was first established at Plumstead by Buckingham Monthly Meeting in 1727, and Plumstead Preparative Meeting was established ca. 1731. The Orthodox branch of the preparative meeting was discontinued in 1878, and the Hicksite in 1867. By 1900, the meeting for worship was held on an occasional basis. Plumstead Worship Group reopened the building for regular use in 1989 under the care of the Buckingham Meeting. In 2002 it became a monthly meeting.
