Biographical / Historical

In 1766, an indulged meeting was established on a seasonal basis at William Bishop's by Burlington Monthly Meeting. In 1776, the oversight of this meeting was transferred to Mount Holly Monthly Meeting. The meeting was first held on a year-round basis in 1779. The name of the meeting became "Vincentown" circa 1781. Burlington Quarterly Meeting established the meeting for worship in 1816 and the preparative meeting in 1819. The Orthodox Preparative Meeting was joined to Mount Holly Preparative Meeting in 1827; the meeting for worship was discontinued in 1828. Vincentown Preparative Meeting (Hicksite) was discontinued in 1856 by Burlington Quarterly Meeting. The meeting for worship was discontinued in 1864
