Abstract

This collection includes letters from Anna Pratt Parker in Kansas to her parents, Henry and Amy Pratt, in Chester County, Pa. Also included is genealogical information on the Pratt family. The letters relate news of the family and daily life, information on weather and market prices, and observations on farm life in Kansas.

Biographical / Historical

Anna Pratt Parker, the Quaker daughter of Henry L. and Amy Cope (Smedley) Pratt, was born in 1857. In 1879 she married Alonzo Parker and with him moved from Chester County, Pa., to Kansas. She died in 1885. According to the donor, Alonzo Parker was names for a member of the Portuguese family that rescued him from a shipwreck in Europe. Donor is their granddaughter.
