The scrapbook of Isaac Shoemaker includes portraits of Shoemaker's family, including Charles Shoemaker, Elizabeth Robeson, Susan Wood, Hannah Taylor, Abraham M. Taylor, George Washington, Daniel Wheeler, and Robert Morton. Also includes sketches of meeting houses, plants found on his travels, and landscapes, including landscapes of South Carolina, Louisiana, western prairies, Spanish Missions in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Yosemite.

Allinson family scrapbooks

Overview

The Allinson family scrapbook is largely comprised of clippings on poetry, temperance, prison reform, reform for juvenile delinquents, and anti-slavery. Many of the anti-slavery clippings discuss the possibility of using Jamaica as a "home for colored emigrants." The end of the volume includes 12 pages of signatures. The volume also includes an obituary for Samuel Allinson.

Friends' Institute scrapbook

William Parker scrapbook

Overview

The scrapbook is comprised of clippings of an article on the Christiana Riot, published in 1910 by the Atlantic Monthly, but originally published in 1866. The article, "The Freedman's Story," was written by William Parker, a formerly enslaved person who escaped slavery and became an abolitionist and activist in Pennsylvania. He was a key actor in the Christiana Riot, and the article describes his memory of the event. It is not known who compiled the scrapbook.
