Abstract

The Fellowship of Reconciliation in the U.S. was founded in 1915 by Christian pacifists. The organization, whose members are now drawn from many religious groups, seeks to apply principles of peace and social justice and non-violent social change to issues such as disarmament, conscription, race relations, economic justice, and civil liberties.

Overview Howard W. Hallman has been a peace and social justice activist since the 1950s. He was a conscientious objector during the Korean War and opposed the Vietnam war. Hallman has worked for nuclear disarmament since the 1980s, especially in an interfaith context. He is a founder of Methodists United for Peace With Justice and associated with the Interfaith Committee for Nuclear Disarmament.
