Smedley, ca. 1836-1908, dealing with his experiences as a conscientious objector during the Civil War, 1863-1866.
Scope and Content note This collection is comprised of the four handwritten letterbooks of Henry Hale G. Sharpless. The letterbooks contain both business and personal correspondence, though the majority of correspondence is personal, addressed to friends and family during Sharpless's travels. The letters include topics such as descriptions of the cities and towns he visits, descriptions of landmarks, cultural differences, food, and styles of dress.
Overview Isaac Sharpless's papers consist of two letter books containing copies of his outgoing correspondence as President of Haverford College as well as a scrapbook containing newspaper and journal articles by and about Sharpless.
Overview Katharine Shepard (1905-1986) attended Bryn Mawr College in the late 1920s and early 1930's, and received degrees in Latin, Classical Archaeology, and Greek. She went on to a career in archaeology, and was employed by the National Gallery of Art. The Katharine Shepard Papers contains letters to and from her family and friends, primarily from her many trips abroad, as well as a few family momentos.
