Scope and Content note This collection is comprised of the single volume manuscript of Henry Stanley Newman, entitled "Among the Red Indians." The manuscript provides a narrative of Newman's travels among the American Indians west of the Mississippi River in 1889. The manuscript was prepared for Mary S. Kimber when she was proposing to write a book on the work that American Friends did with Native Americans, which was published in 1917 and entitled "Friends and the Indians." Newman's manuscript was never published....
