Abstract

The Deanery was the home of the first Dean and second President of Bryn Mawr College, M. Carey Thomas, from 1885 to 1933. From 1933 until 1968, when the building was demolished for the construction of Canaday Library, the building served as the college's Alumnae Center and Inn. The collection is comprised primarily of Deanery records, mostly inventories of the building, and the files of Carol Campbell, Curator of Art and Artifacts in Bryn Mawr College's Special Collections

Abstract Ruth Emerson majored in Greek and Latin, graduating from Bryn Mawr College in 1893. Jacqueline Pascal Morris Evans papers

Abstract

Jacqueline Pascal Morris (later Evans) (1886-1947) graduated from Bryn Mawr College in 1908. Following her graduation, she and two cousins, Agnes and Alida, travelled through Europe for three months. Their route took them from Paris into Switzerland, and then down the Italian peninsular. They returned the same way, travelling along the French Riviera before their return from London. This collection contains 26 letters, written to Jacqueline’s father over the course of her travels.

Abstract Fritz Solmitz (1893-1933) was an early and outspoken leader in the opposition to Nazism, an editor of a Social Democratic newspaper in Lübeck and a member of the City council.
