Dorothy Burr Thompson diaries and papers

Abstract

Dorothy Burr Thompson (1900 – 2001) was a prominent archaeologist who graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1923. She specialized in Greek terracotta. Burr Thompson and her husband, Homer A. Thompson, were both heavily involved with the American School of Classical Studies in Athens. The collection includes her diaries, personal correspondence, and professional papers. It also includes contains both personal and research related photographs and postcards.

Genevieve Thompson (Smith) scrapbook

Abstract Genevieve Thompson Smith was born December 2, 1885 in Portland, Oregon. She was prepared for college by the Portland Academy in Portland and Mrs. Hartman’s School in New York. She attended Bryn Mawr College from 1903-1905 and the University of Oregon Law School from 1911-1913. She moved to Washington, D.C. where she worked in the Russian section of U.S. Army intelligence during World War I. In 1921, she married Admiral Norman Murray Smith. Thompson died in Portland, Oregon on May 20, 1974....

Abstract Anne Dean Truitt (1921-2004,) BMC 1943, was an artist and writer. Truitt's formal training as an artist began in 1948 when she studied sculpture at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Washington D. C. In the early 1960s Truitt began to develop what would become her signature style, applying layer upon layer of paint to hollow wooden structures. Abstract Elizabeth Welbourn was a member of the Bryn Mawr class of 1938. After graduation, she studied at the Peabody Harp Institute at Johns Hopkins University. Abstract Eleanor Williams (later Apthorp) graduated from Bryn Mawr in 1907 with degrees in English and Philosophy. In 1916, she married Robert East Apthorp and they had three children.
