Overview

The Harned was a non-profit boarding home for the elderly in Moylan, PA, under the care of Media Monthly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends. It operated under the direction of The Harned Committee. It was established in 1940 through the bequest of Quaker sisters, Phebe and Katherine Harned, and laid down in 1994. The collection contains loose and mounted photographs, clippings, and a scrapbook depicting residential life.

Scope and Contents

Records of Media Monthly Meeting and its immediate predecessor, Chester Monthly Meeting (Media, Pa.) from 1948. Includes: vital records to 2009, minutes, 1948-2013/2015-18, financial records, committee records, and miscellaneous. Of particular interest are the records of the Sanctuary Committee, 1986-1990, and blueprints of the Media meetinghouse

Overview Media-Providence Friends School was established in 1981 through the merger of two educational institutions, Media Friends' School and Providence Friends School, both located in Media, Pennsylvania.
