The Fellowship of Reconciliation in the U.S. was founded in 1915 by Christian pacifists. The collection contains extensive correspondence and papers concerning his service as a conscientious objector in Civilian Public Service during World War II. Overview Norman Jehiel Whitney (1891-1967) was a Quaker teacher, writer and devoted peace worker. From 1919-1957 he helped establish, and directed for many years, the Syracuse Peace Council.
