Abstract Helen Griffith was a member of Bryn Mawr’s class of 1905. After graduation, she taught English at Mount Holyoke, Bennett, and Tougaloo Colleges. In 1966, she published a biography of Sarah Dickey titled “Dauntless in Mississippi: The Life of Sarah A. Dickey.” Griffith died in 1976. The Helen Griffith papers houses Griffith’s college diary and scrapbook. Abstract Lucy T. Shoe Meritt (1906- 2003) was an acclaimed archaeologist, scholar, teacher and editor who received her B.A, M.A, and Ph.D degrees from Bryn Mawr.
