Ohio Yearly Meeting of the Religious Society of Friends (Hicksite : 1828-1921)

This collection includes the correspondence and miscellaneous papers of a Quaker family concerning the Hicksite/Orthodox controversy in Ohio, conditions of everyday life in Virginia and the Midwest, and observations on slavery and the use of tobacco. Also included is an account of Cleaver family births and deaths, 1729-1895.

Friends General Conference is a Quaker organization in the unprogrammed tradition of the Religious Society of Friends which primarily serves affiliated yearly and monthly meetings. Records of the Ohio and Indiana Yearly Meetings deposited in the collections of Friends Historical Library. Primarily include those of the Hicksite and Wilburite branches and their predecessors, but some Gurneyite materials are resprented in the collections as well.
